1. Planning, deploying, and supporting Institute's networking and information technology infrastructure.
The Nencki Institute local area network consists of
33 switches. They are interconnected with 2*1 Gb/s fibre optics (Gigabit Ethernet). In total there're
696 10/100 Mb/s, 116 1Gb/s ports for servers and user connections.
Connection to wide-area Internet (100 Mb/s) is secured by a firewall.
2. Deploying, supporting, and administering the Institute servers, including:
WWW servers (www.nencki.gov.pl, intra.nencki.gov.pl, www.seneca2007.eu)
mail and DNS server (primary DNS server for domains: nencki.gov.pl, neuroinf.pl, seneca2007.eu, ptbun.org.pl)
web mail server (poczta.nencki.gov.pl)
internet calendar server (kalendarz.nencki.gov.pl)
remote access server, terminal services server
Accounting Department servers
internal file Server
NAS and iSCSI server
proxy, DHCP, time and local upgrade servers
In total there are 22 servers (operating systems: Solaris, Linux, FreeBSD, Novell OES, Windows 2003) and
41 print servers.
3. Providing front line IT support to staff of the Institute in all aspects of computer operations (Helpdesk system)
providing digital imaging and printing facilities
developing and coding content for WWW servers
supervising implementation of databases application software in the Institute’s Accounting Department
predicting and planning for the Institute's future hardware and software needs
